Frequently Asked Questions

Website Design FAQs

How much does a website cost?

My website costs start at £900, however, this is for a starter package. You can find out more about what’s included in my web design costs here, and if these costs are within your budget, please get in touch with me here to find out how I can help you.

I already have a website, how much is a redesign?

A redesign will cost the same as a new website. This is because very often the website is out-of-date and the plugins and themes will need to be completely changed/upgraded. Effectively your website will need to be rebuilt to ensure that it is using up-to-date technology. But that’s part of the reason why you need a redesign, right? You can find out more about what’s included in my web design costs here, and if these costs are within your budget, please get in touch with me here to find out how I can help you.

I already have a website but I’d like changes made to it. How much is this?

It’s not very often that it’s just the case of making some updates and then the website is ready to go. Often the website uses out-of-date plugins and themes that will need to be relooked at before it’s worth making changes to the website. You can find out more about what’s included in my web design costs here, and if these costs are within your budget, please get in touch with me here to find out how I can help you.

Why do you only use Divi (WordPress) or Squarespace?

I love designing websites using Divi or Squarespace and I find that my clients tend to prefer one of these options when deciding on which platform to use.

Divi is a marketing-leading WordPress builder and theme that allows me to combine my graphic design and technical skills to build beautiful and functional websites that are scalable for business owners. You can visit the Elegant Themes website here for more information on the Divi platform.

Squarespace is a marketing-leading SaaS website platform. It’s easier to look after than a WordPress website, for example, all of the website security and updates are done via Squarespace itself so you don’t have to worry about this. If you’re a business owner who wants a beautiful and functional website without the hassle of updates to worry about, Squarespace is a great choice. You can visit the Squarespace website here for more information on the platform.

What’s Squarespace?

If you’re a business owner who wants a beautiful and functional website without the hassle of updates to worry about, Squarespace is a great choice. I am also a Squarespace Circle member which means I’m able to pass on discounts to my clients. I also have access to longer free-trial periods which I can pass on to my clients as well. How do I know what website builder to choose?

There are many website builders. Divi and Squarespace are just two of them, but in my opinion; two of the best.

The best advice I can give you when looking for a website builder is to do your research. Don’t just get hooked in by the marketing of website platforms; you need to find a platform that works for you and your business, and that you enjoy using.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you find the right platform for you and your business:

    • Does the website platform offer exactly what I need my website to be able to do?
    • Are there any reliable designers and developers that I can go to for help if I need it?
    • Does the platform offer support?
    • Are the costs of the upkeep of my website within my budget?
    • Am I confident that I can use and work with this platform?

If you’re not sure what platform would work for you, I’d be happy to share my knowledge in more detail. Please contact me here.

How long does it take to make a website?

There is a lot of work that goes into making a website not only look good but also be functional and actually work as intended. I use a 4-stage process when creating my websites, and work in collaboration with my clients. It is hard to say how long a website takes to create as there are so many different factors. At a minimum, you can expect a 7-week build time for your new website, but if you have everything you need for your new website from the get-go, it’s possible for it to be a quicker process. For more information on what you need to have to start the website build process, download my Website and Logo briefing form here.

Can you manage the website for me after it’s built?

Yes! Of course. If you choose a WordPress Divi website, you will need to choose a website hosting provider. I offer website hosting, so the package you choose there will come with the level of support you choose. You can find more information about my hosting here. For anything that falls outside of your chosen hosting package, or if you choose me to design your Squarespace website, the costs for website management would be charged at my current hourly rate.

Do you do Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

I do optimise your website with your relevant keywords, which is part of an SEO strategy. For more extensive SEO work I can refer you to a trusted SEO professional. If this is something you require for your website, get in touch with me here and I can send you more information.

Do I need a designer or developer for my website?

This is always a hard question to answer as it’s specific to what you need your website to do for you. In most cases, you’ll need a trusted web designer like me. If there is part of the website build that needs a developer, then I have a trusted developer that I can source. As it’s hard to know exactly what you need, please get in touch with me here and I’d be happy to help share my knowledge.
